Evolution 2, Tignes

Are you getting the most out of your ski holiday? To make sure I have a holiday to remember, I personally can't go to Tignes without trying something new with Evolution 2.

We all know that Evolution 2 provide a full range of award winning ski school lessons in Tignes, from group lessons and one to one sessions; which we beleive can be the best way to learn to ski or board. They also provide a wide range of outdoor activities for all age groups to choose from.

But my personal favourites are -

Evolution 2 off pisteOff Piste – Evolution 2 run a four day course which runs from Mon to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clients can choose to either sign up for the entirety of the course or they can simply book into individual sessions on an adhoc basis. The groups are small (4 – 6 per group,) and all clients are provided with a back pack containing an avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel.

"I've had some of my favourite 'off piste' skiing in Tignes with Evolution 2, it's always great fun and very informative. Whether I've been with a group or one to one I've explored areas I would never have ventured and my off piste skiing and snow safety has improved in leaps and bounds."
Rupert Bonington, Director - Interactive Resorts (The Ski Holiday Specialists)

Tarentaise Tour – This is a trip that we tend to run every Friday (depending upon the snow conditions.) Clients take off from either Tignes or Val early doors (meet at ski school around 8.30 a.m.) we then drop off the back of the Col de Palet & traverse the valley of the Vanoise National Park until we arrive at Champagny. From Champagny we then ski through the resorts of La Plagne, Montchavin, Peisey Nancrois, Les Arcs & Villaroger (finishing in Villaroger at around 5.30 p.m.) Usually after the first section, when we arrive in Champagny, the instructors separate everyone into groups in accordance with their skiing ability. Some of the weaker off-piste skiers prefer to remain on the piste from this point onwards however, for those skiers with the ability to venture further afield there really is some great off-piste to be had e.g. The North Face of the Bellecôte in La Plagne. It really is a fantastic day out (tiring but fantastic!)

Evolution 2 off pisteTovière to Chevril – This is a trip that we usually run on a Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is an off piste session with a difference! During the morning the instructor will take the group to the top of the Tovière mountain (otherwise known as “Mickey’s ears”) whereby everyone will then proceed to ski from here, down through the trees to the Chevril lake. Then, to finish the morning off in style we then transport everyone back to resort by helicopter.

Clients usually love this as, although it isn’t an actual helicopter drop, it still incorporates the helicopter element and obviously the price is a little more reasonable!

Fine Skills Clinics – These, run Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and, like with the off-piste, clients can choose how many/little of them they wish to participate in. The groups are once again small (3 – 6 per group.) This product is designed for good level intermediate skiers who know how to get down most slopes but perhaps need to “fine tune” certain areas. The program is as follows:

Evolution 2 instructorsMonday – Perfection on the Piste – general technique to help get the ski legs back on the first day.

Tuesday – Out on the Edge – Developing parallel into pure carve.

Wednesday – Mastering the Moguls

Thursday - 4x4 All terrain skiing – On and off the piste.

“Just for the Girls” – These courses run in conjunction with our regular intermediate courses (Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.,) only they are designed exclusively for women and indeed will be taught by our female instructors. As it turned out, last winter one of our intermediate groups ended up being composed of only women. The feedback that we received at the end of the week was fantastic with the majority of the ladies commenting on how much more relaxed they felt and how much more they enjoyed it as a result. Therefore, this year we decided to actually implement these courses into our program. We see these courses appealing more to lower intermediate skiers, especially those who are slightly nervous and find the whole experience slightly intimidating.
