Tignes and The Espace Killy
High up in the world famous Espace Killy ski area is the resort of Tignes, renowned for some of the most extensive and challenging skiing in Europe, as well as its unbeatable snow record. The resort itself is made up of 3 main villages; Tignes Le Lac, Tignes Le Lavachet and Tignes Val Claret, all interlinked by an excellent free ski bus service.
Tignes Val Claret at 2100m has a superb position right at the foot of the Grande Motte funicular and the main ski lifts, for immediate access to the pistes. Tignes Le Lac and Tignes Le Lavachet are a little lower, and have more of a cosy village feel about them. All the villages have a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, and with the circulation of traffic significantly reduced, there is a friendly buzz about the place.
Below the main resort villages are Tignes-les-Boisses (at 1850m) and Tignes-les-Breviers (at 1550m). Brevieres a quieter renovated old village at the lowest point of the slopes offering some good value accommodation and good lunch stop-offs.
Tignes has always been considered as essentially a skiers’ resort, but with the extensive overhaul that it has undertaken in the past few years, and the improvement in the standard of accommodation available, it is certainly starting to rival its neighbour, Val d’Isère.
Happy Skiers!
Chris heads the Tignes Chalets team and recently was sent this comment...
"Hi Chris, I just wanted to say thank you very much for all your assistance in helping me organise the group holiday to France. Your patience and positive stance to ensure the group has a great holiday has been delightful and much appreciated. Yet again, I've booked through your company and received excellent service." — Jeni, (Berkshire)
